 The first 130 years  Public library Dositej Obradovic celebrated its 130th anniversary since founding the first reading room in this Srems town and also the day of the library, in memory of the date when in 1982 the library was moved to this place where it stands and works today. On this occasion formal celebration was held, during which Ratko Colakovic, who, the day before, was named a manager of this institution by the decision of Municipal Assembly of Stara Pazova, 8th time in a row , welcomed the guests and co-workers in Serbian and Slovak language. The history of library work and library reading rooms in Stara Pazova but also in whole of its municipality was told in the video. The presence of Vesna Stevanovic, assistant manager of Serbias public library, Miro Vuksanovic, the manager of the Matica srpska library, Dusanka Novakovic,the manager of Library from Bjeljina, managers of Srems libraries, representatives of Stara Pazova municipality and many other institutions and organizations of this municipality made this anniversary even more pleasant.

Parliament of Srems librarians 
45th parliament of librarians was held in Srem, Iriga. The subject of this years parliament was Zmaj as everlasting poet. Professor Milo Lompar, ph.D. , held an inspiring lecture on this subject, pointing out to all professors of Srem the parallels with German romanticism and differences in soul singing of the poet and the singing of a soul. Then the exibition, named Zmajs 175 years, was opened and was prepared by Olivera Krivosevic and Olivera Loncarevic. Ljiljana Loncarevic and Goran Simic performed the musical part of the event dedicated to Zmajs verses, Zlatko Pasko talked about the novel of Vladislav Cikos, Stroimir and Ljubisava, which was reprinted and published by Dositej Obradovic library.
The award Dositej Obradovic, which has been a part of this parliament for a long time, was given to Slavica Varnicic and her library Simeon Piscevic,Sid. After that Ratko Colakovic talked to the writer Radovan Beli Markovic, who has put himself in a good word to this excellent gathering of librarians by a good choice of his Pricki by those dedicated to professor Nikola Milosevic and Borislav Stankovic.

Awards for librarians Librarians from Gligorije Vozarevic, library from Sremska Mitrovica, participated in the 4th sports games, which were organized by Serbias Labor Union for Culture from the 21st till 28th of September in Pefkohori. 120 employees working in different institutions from 17 Serbias cities participated this years games. Mitrovica participated for the first time with 10 members who won 7 medals. In three-point shot Dragica Gemovic won the gold medal and Vesna Spasojevic the bronze one, in table tennis Dragica Gemovic won the gold medal and Zoran Zivkovic the bronze one, in sweeming Dragica Gemovic won the silver medal, in stone-throwing Mirjana Medalic won the gold medal. In womens football, the team of : Marija Drazic, Dusanka Miloradic, Vesna Spasojevic, Dragica gemovic, Mirjana Medalic, Zivka Matic and Vesna Petrovic won the bronze medal. The games were well organized, the judges were up to the task and participants were devoted and fair.

Pekic In Nisvil  By promoting LeRoy Joness book Blues people, the Public Library Stevan Sremac in Nis joined this years Nisvil jass festival. The book is about referential study about the appearance and development of the black peoples music and it represents the turning point in understanding jass music as an authentic value of 20th century. The two interpreters from Nis, Mimica and Aleksandar Radovanovic, have translated, together or separately, the cult biography of Charles Mungus Beneath the Underdog and Wishing on the Moon, days of Billie Holiday. Apart from interpreters culturologist Slobodan Stojanovic also spoke on the promotion pointing out the social indicators in genesis of black peoples musical idiom. A month before this, the evening dedicated to Borislav Pekic,in the honour of his seven volumed Golden fleece, was held in the reading room of the library. At the beginning of the evening The Solution about Rehabilitation of Borislav Pekic was read, with which the writer was given back his rights as a citizen and dignity in public appearances. It is interesting that the pedagogue of the penal institution in Nis, who was in charge of Borislav Pekics treatment, spoke from the audience.

Guidebook for the Library  Within the project of new visual identity of the Library in Prijepolje the first guidebook for the Library has been published. It was edited by Nermina Duran, manageress of the Library and Marija Stikovic, librarian. Marketing, consulting and design agency in Belgrade (AT HAUS-Art & Technology House) was chosen to deal with graphic design, and the project was supported by the State Lottery of Serbia. On 14 pages of 21x 21 cm dimensions this guidebook shows the premises of the Library and the services it gives and it is richly illustrated with professional photographs of Svetlana Dingarac and Zoran Zekavicic. Fire in Kula  On Friday, August the 15th, in early morning hours a fire broke out in Kulas Public library and it completely destroyed roof frame and the premises of the librarys ground-floor. The fire was brought under control in approximately 35 minutes and the intervention of firemen lasted 6 hours. Firemen from Kula, Odzaci, Sombor (20 professional firemen with 10 fire engines), municipal service workers and citizens participated in fighting the fire and rescue operation of library holdings of 100 000 books. The fireman from volunteer fire department from Kula was injured during the intervention. Most of the books from ground-floor premises were saved, and the cause and financial damage will be dtermined by the investigation. Electrical wiring was the cause of the fire according to the first unofficial report.

New web site of the library in Kraljevo  Since August the 4th the public library Stefan Prvovencani from Kraljevo has a new web site! It is a dinamic site which allows new possibilities. On our web pages visitors can search the electronic catalogue of the entire library holdings. Our digital collections, out of which we already presented the collection of postcards of old Kraljevo which will soon be completed with collection of old photographs and local periodicals, will also be available on site. Apart from regular informing about the library events, announcements of programmes and news archives, one can find a very popular section on our site called Ask the librarian, recommended books and various useful links. The editions of our publisher were also presented. The content of the site is searchable. The site was formed in open sourse system Joomla (based on PHP programming language and MySQL data base), which allows numerous functionalities and good running of the content. The author of the web site is Marija Djurovic and she works in this public library Stefan Prvovencani in Kraljevo.

Central libraries in Sremska Mitrovica
 The library, Gligorije Vozarevic, Central Service and Section for central libraries Librarians Association of Serbia (LAS) organized professional meeting on June the 13th and 14th. Librarians from Belgrade,Novi Sad, Vranje, Kragujevac,Zrenjanin, Pancevo, Sombor, Sabac, Subotica, Valjevo, Krusevac,Kikinda, Cacak, Kraljevo, Bor, Prokuplje, Pirot, Jagodina, Lazarevac, Uzice, Sid, Bijeljina(a guest from Bijeljina) and of course from Sremska Mitrovica participated in discussing the subject of Cultural and publishing activities of central libraries during this professional meeting. 49 librarians were present on this meeting from cities listed above.During this meeting presenters showed that cultural and publishing activities of central libraries can be managed on relation reader-library so that every segment of activity and the library represent cultural and public activity which follows the main principle of librarianship-library is for users and the basic function is to preserve and pass on huge cultural treasure of the world, resulting as a fruit of many genrations effort. Female pen
 Gordana Cirjanic was the winner of Politika Bazars literary award Female pen in 2007 for her novel The kiss, which was published by Narodna knjiga from Belgrade. From The Fond of Filip and Madlena Cepter the winner of the award gets 5000 euros, but in dinars, also golden fountain pen and medallion. The award was officialy presented on 11th of June in hall of National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. On this occasion the editorial office of Politika Bazar presented the library Djordje Jovanovic from Belgrade with all 600 books, which were in competition for this award since 2000 till now, and which will be available to all library members in a few days. Gordana Cirjanic, the laureate, is a member of this library for many years now. For more details click on the picture

157 years of reading in Jagodina
 For the 157th anniversary of library in Jagodina, people form this town could see the exhibition of Belgrades library which was held on the occasion of 80th anniversary since the death of narrator,novelist and dramatist Borisav Stankovic.The guests could see the most important details from his life and work Apart from address of welcome they could hear the extract from Kostana which was narrated by the actor Aleksandar Antic.Readers who read the biggest number of books were given commendations and books, and the Library, on the day of its anniversary, was back in its place of Serbian library network, where it belongs.

Our network became richer for a very meaningful, nicely graphically formed and veru functional internet presentation of Main library Vuk Karadzic from Prijepolje,the address is www.biblioteka-prijepolje.com .Before making the site it was worked on the new logo of the library and on visual identity of this institution which is very important for the people of Prijepolje.Management board of library adopted a solution which could be understood in two ways-styled symbolic image of the tree with fruits of knowledge and the trunk. The meticulous access to the preparation of presentation on internet, followed by a hard work of all employees on creating material needed and making original photographs, and with the excellent cooperation with Belgrades agency AT Haus www.athaus.co.you brought us to an excellent result on which all librarians are very proud of, said Nermina Duran. Calligraphy in library
 Friday January the 18th ,in hall of library in Sabac there was exhibition of calligraphic works of childrens art colony. In 2007 monastery Cokesina was the host of childrens art colony organized by primary school King Aleksandar Karadjordjevic from Prnjavor .12 talented pupils from 5th till 8th grade,from various places,had an opportunity to show their talents for art and to learn how to practice calligraphy and monotype.Exercises of calligraphy were kept by Natasa Jovanovic, professor of school of art in Sabac.Exibition in library will last till February the 1st.
